playlist and interview: treal

Droppin’ mixtapes with DJ Smallz or Bigga Rankin, constantly floodin’ the streets and the internet with bangin’ tracks, producin’ and writin’ for fellow artists, or performin’ live city to city, Treal is always on the grind. This work ethic, complimented by a natural ability to create catchy joints with universal appeal and the support of the whole state of Florida, makes Treal a group to watch very closely. Listen to their exclusive Fairtilizer playlist for a taste of what they got in store, and be on the lookout for their new album Showtime.

What are your currently workin’ on?

Right now we are working on completing our new album titled “Showtime”. Got a couple more producers to get with and still doing some features with other artists. We got an upcoming event with one of the Radio Stations Wild 98.7fm in Tampa (Florida) and MetroPcs (Cell Phone Company) so look out for that coming soon. We are also working on completing another video for our next single “Zone’N”. Along with all of that, we are constantly working on production and writing for other artists.

How would you describe the TREAL sound?

Our sound is what we like to call “Hybrid” meaning it’s a little of everything from Crunk to Laid Back or just something to ride to. We haven’t met a person yet who doesn’t vibe to our music, from young to old so it’s a like going to a buffet, it’s something for everybody .

What’s poppin’ in Florida right now, what artists should we check for?

Right now Florida is definitely on the map with all the artists coming out like Plies and T-Pain, but it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t say Treal is what’s popping right now! We got Florida on lock right now. So many people support us all over but ain’t no love like Florida love.

What artists have been main influences for you?

Poetic: Michael Jackson, Bone Thugs N’ Harmony, 8Ball & MJG, Pastor Troy and T.I. just to name a few.
Eliseo: Prince, Timbaland, and UGK.
T Sick: Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Lil Jon, T-Pain, 2Pac, KRS One, and Biggie.

5 albums you can’t live without?

Crunk Tested and Approved – Treal
From Ashy to Classy – Field MoB
100% Real Nigga – Plies
Angel – Amanda Perez
E.1999 Eternal – Bone Thugs N Harmony

How important is the internet for your grind?

It’s everything nowadays. If you don’t have a Myspace you can kill yourself! We have been on Myspace now since it started! So check it out! www.myspace.com/trealorangecounty. It’s truly the only way for independent artists to network with the rest of the world and it’s just as important as street grinding.

Do you think the era of CD’s is over?

The people I know want to be able to physically have music in hands, rather than buying music online with a credit card. Yeah mp3’s and ipod’s are taking over but the music gotta come from somewhere. I think in time it may go away but for right now I think CD’s will be around for a few more years. I don’t think that people who collect CD’s will ever stop so CD’s still have a chance to stay in this era.

Where do you see the internet going in the next few years?

Who knows cause ya boy Bill Gates is helping us out a lot with all the technology coming out every year. But I hope they can get rid of all these viruses that tear down your computer! Let’s work on that Bill!
