What’s the most important thing that’s happened to you lately?
(Of non-musical importance) I’ve been considering donating an organ to a family member. (Of musical importance) I recently had my song “Ricochet” played by DJ Premier on his x-mas radio show.

When you’re not making music what do you listen to?
I like movies. I enjoy having them play in the background while I work and sleep. I listen to lots of different music too, although silence is golden.

When did you know you wanted to make music for a living?
Unfortunately, I do not make my living through music. Fortunately, it was never my plan to make a living off of music.

Are your family and friends supportive?
Yes my friends and family are supportive. My friends are my family and I’ve been able to come a long way with their help.

Where do you find inspiration?
I like going to watch movies I wouldn’t normally watch, or read books I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards, or go to events I wouldn’t normally attend. Flowing water never gets stale I guess.

Would you rather DIY or sign with a major label?
As far as I can tell, the structure by which major labels have been successful in the past has deteriorated to the point where DIY is a more viable, rewarding, and lucrative situation for some artists (myself included).

What do you think about the current state of the music industry?
I find that (what I know of) the industry is becoming increasingly independent, and within this new throng of individual artists there seems to be much confusion and disillusion. Artists are often emulating other artists in hopes of achieving similar status, yet frequently overlook simple realities. One has to have the drive of a Hollywood director in order to make shit work in this current climate.

Who would you love to work with that you haven’t already?
DJ Premier.

How do you define success?
I think success is having your health, surrounding yourself with good people, and occupying your time with passionate activity.

What can we expect in the future from you?
THE FUTURE! I’m in the midst of working on a project with my homie, Muneshine. We are a rap duo called “Twin Peaks” and we’re in the home stretch of our debut album. I’m getting ready to do a follow-up album to a 2005 release put out by my group “Alpha Flight” with homeboy Bigg Bixx. I’m planning on my 3rd European tour in March with El Da Sensei from the Artifacts. That’s about it for now…plus I’m trying to get to Japan before 2011.
