Yuksek’s new album “Away from the Sea” is about sea, sex and sun…plus love and happiness all over the world? Yes! Exclusive mix + bonus remix & interview below:

What’s up in Yuksek’s world?
Trying to get some sleep as soon as possible.

Who is Yuksek and how did the project start?
My production work under this name started few year ago as a live act first, it wasn’t only tracks but 1 hour of electronic music inspired by all the music I love, from old-school electro, pop-rock, to hip-hop, then I released a few EP’s on French and German labels and I remixed some bands, with luck I had requests from many bands I really love (Chromeo, Tahiti 80, Phoenix, Kaiser Chiefs, Ghostface…), and I finally produced this first album that I had in mind for quite a long time.

What’s your album “Away from the Sea” about?
Sea, sex and sun, love, happiness in the world.

What’s your Fairtilizer’s mix about?
Friendship, drug, shoes, plane…

What do you think of today’s French electro scene?
I don’t know too much about that, except for my close friends (The Shoes, Breakbot, Brodinski…) and the people I like and see often (Pilooski, De Crecy, Sebastian, Surkin, Justice…), all those guys are doing really well and are making very cool music.

The future of Yuksek?
Writing a second album as soon as possible (I started already), producing the album from “The Bewitched”, producing tracks for Brodinski, playing in cool festivals this summer, buying a dishwasher.

And of the music industry?
I don’t really care about that, if I can keep on playing on stage and releasing records I don’t want to know about Universal’s head’s stock options…

Do you live off music today?
Yes, for some years now.

How important is the internet for you as an artist?
It’s really important for newcomers, the only way to get peoples’interest and to find some booking abroad…as I did.

Live or DJ set?

both, dj for fun, live for emotion.

Digital or physical, is there a place for both?
Hopefully, I think some people (like me) always want to buy an album they really like, maybe on vinyl or special edition CD. To me, hard drives are not sexy at all, really boring and die very shortly in a life time…

Smoking or non smoking clubs?
Smoking but only for me.
