What are you up to at the moment?
We are touring, presenting the new album, playing in festivals, etc.

Could you present your collaborators on this new Nouvelle Vague album?
Olivier Libaux, whom I’ve done most of the tracks of the three albums, Mélanie Pain, French singer who became the “voice” of Nouvelle Vague, Nadeah Miranda, an Aussie girl (ex-Lovegods) and we have invited some of the original singers to perform duets on our covers of their songs ! People like Martin Gore, Terry Hall, Barry Adamson and Ian McCulloch have said yes to this strange idea !

What’s your album about? Any new concept?
The new concept is to have invited all these guys and also to present some new ideas of arrangements, style, etc.

How would you define the Nouvelle Vague sound? Did you get feedback from the original songwriters?
Yes really good, that’s why some of them are now on board on this new album. About the sound…it’s an open mix between western sound, soundtracks, 60’s beat, etc. There are really of lot of different influences, that’s the good aspect of this project, we can almost do what we want ,playing with all the different cultures and style from the past decades.

Influences and musical family?
Musical family not really. I think that this band is unique and I don’t see any other example of a cover band that got our reputation since 5 years now.

You are just releasing your album in a difficult time for the music industry: how do you see the future for it?
I think that we won’t recover the market as it was in the 90’s, some people, generations will never buy music anymore but there will still be a lot of people around the world, for whom music is very important, fans etc and these people will be ready to buy. I believe in beautiful objects, collectors, etc.

As an artist how do you use & see the web today? How important is it for you?
It’s very important, we just got our own iPhone app! Things like Myspace and Youtube did a lot for the recognition of Nouvelle Vague all around the world. Think that we ve got around 3 millions of views on Myspace and our video of “Dance with me” has been viewed by 2 millions of people ! It’s amazing. There’s a lot of countries where our cds are not sold and every people in the shows know the tracks by heart .

What do you expect from a label in 2009? How is Perfect Kiss doing? Do you have any new artist to introduce?
I’m trying to be like an “old fashion” producer. I mean I’m discovering artists when they are really at the begining and I’m trying to help them to go further and find their audience. I’m actually finishing a lot of new projects. Some names: Pulsion Phantom, The Blackout Babies, Anna O, Nicolas Comment, Maxence Cyrin, Mélanie Pain, Sir Alice, etc.

What’s your favourite digital and physical format and why?
I like mp3, so easy to use and vinyls. I’m not sure of the interest of a cd.
