Hi, how are you doing?
Things are going well.

What’s goin’’ on in Von Bondies’’s world right now?
Touring, touring and more touring.

What are you currently listening to? What are your all-time Top 10 albums?
Currently I am listening too a band called LIGHTNING LOVE.

And my all time 10 albums? Well that is difficult.

In no particular order:

Nirvava – Bleach
Archers of Loaf – Icky Metal
Weezer – Pinkerton
The Make-Up – live at cold as rice
Minor Threat – Minor Threat
Otis Redding – All of his albums
Pixies – Doolittle
Smashing Pumpkins – Gish
PJ Harvey – 4 track demos
Prince – The Hits

How is the scene in Detroit at the moment? Any good bands, cool venues?
The scene in Detroit is all over the place. Garage rock is dead and gone.
And a new youthful sound is rising from it’s ashes. When you live in a city that is in constant turmoil/change good things are bound to come around.

The new good bands from Detroit are:
800 beloved
Lightning Love
Millions of Brazilians

Could you do a Detroit playlist?
Detroit playlist? lol. Sorry i’m not sure I know enough detroit bands.
I never really listened to “DETROIT ROCK” music. I like motown.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND WE AREN’T FANS OF GARAGE ROCK. I never really listened to it. So detroit rock had no influence on the von bondies. I grew up listening too Grunge. I don’t even own a Stooges record.

You are back on an indie label after an album on a major: how do you feel about that? Pros and cons to be on a major/indie?
The Von Bondies made NO SENSE on a major label. We love things when
they are on a more personal level. Pros of being on an indie label are…. we
decide mostly everything. Cons… no money for cool promo posters or free
stuff for fans.

How important is the internet for you as a band? Is it something you are into or you don’’t give a fuck?
The internet is the only way for the band to stay in constant contact with family and friends while on tour. So it’s a must.

We are in a world with a lot of different models on the net (free streaming, digital stores, mobile, etc
): what kind of service should be brought to the table?

With technology comes responsibility. lol I don’t know an online recording studio.

Where do you see this whole internet thing going?
The internet will be the bearer of the end of culture as we know it. But, will also bring the birth of a new world. Where romances will be through the keyboard and not of the flesh.
